ECO2FLY Project Boosts a New Hydrogen Valley in Castilla-La Mancha Following Its Selection for the Clean Hydrogen Partnership PDA Plus Programme

The ECO2FLY project, to be developed in Villaluenga de la Sagra (Toledo, Spain), has been selected to participate in the Project Development Assistance (PDA) Plus programme of the Clean Hydrogen Partnership. This European initiative provides technical and strategic support to the most mature Hydrogen Valley projects, helping to accelerate their development and facilitate their Final Investment Decision (FID).

This achievement marks a significant milestone for the project and further strengthens the Renewable Hydrogen and Sustainable Fuels Ecosystem of Castilla-La Mancha, reinforcing the region’s position as one of Europe’s leading hubs for the development of hydrogen technologies.

Through its participation in the PDA Plus programme, ECO2FLY will benefit from expert support to optimise technical, strategic, regulatory and financial aspects of the project, reducing development risks and supporting its future deployment.

Located in the province of Toledo, ECO2FLY joins other flagship regional initiatives, including the Puertollano Hydrogen Valley and the Renewable Hydrogen Hub of Albacete, contributing to the expansion of a regional ecosystem that is positioning Castilla-La Mancha at the forefront of renewable hydrogen and sustainable fuels in Europe.

The Spanish National Hydrogen Centre (CNH2) welcomes this important milestone, which highlights Castilla-La Mancha’s strong potential to lead the energy transition through innovative hydrogen-based projects. Initiatives such as ECO2FLY play a key role in accelerating the decarbonisation of strategic sectors, promoting CO₂ valorisation, attracting investment and strengthening the region’s industrial competitiveness.

The project’s selection also recognises the outstanding work carried out by the consortium and the commitment of all participating organisations to developing sustainable technological solutions that support climate neutrality while reinforcing Europe’s leadership in renewable hydrogen and sustainable fuels.
