CNH2, Semifinalist in the “Europa Se Siente 2025” Awards for the Planes Complementarios Project

The Spanish National Hydrogen Centre (CNH2) has been selected as a semifinalist in the Europa Se Siente 2025 awards. The CNH2’s nomination falls under the #EuropaSeSiente Green category, which recognises projects contributing to the energy transition, climate change mitigation, sustainable agriculture, environmental protection, ecological restoration, biodiversity, circular economy, and efficient resource use.

This nomination has been made possible thanks to the Planes Complementarios project, part of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan – Next Generation EU, in which CNH2 acts as the coordinating and leading entity within the Renewable Energy and Hydrogen Programme: “Strategic actions of Castilla-La Mancha based on hydrogen to transform the current energy paradigm and minimise greenhouse gas emissions.”

This initiative has strengthened the centre’s technological and human capacities, driving forward innovative projects in the production, storage and utilisation of renewable hydrogen. The Planes Complementarios, promoted by the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities in collaboration with Spain’s autonomous communities, are a tool for joint R&D&I action with shared objectives. The strategic lines in which CNH2 is involved are part of Component 17 of the Plan, focused on institutional reform and the reinforcement of the national science, technology and innovation system.

The #EuropaSeSiente awards comprise six categories, attracting 231 projects from seven different EU funds. From these, 60 semifinalists have been selected – 10 per category. The aim of these awards is to raise public awareness of the results and added value of EU funding in Spain.

Until Thursday, 10 July, the semifinalists will present their initiatives. The process will culminate in the Annual European Funds Event, to be held in October 2025, where the winning projects will be announced.

The General Secretariat of European Funds at the Ministry of Finance, organiser of this annual competition, highlights the quality and the true reflection of the economic and social impact generated by European funding.
