Project Aim
H2BLUE aims to accelerate the deployment of renewable hydrogen technologies in island and coastal regions through the development, demonstration, and validation of integrated hydrogen value chains. The project will use the Canary Islands and the Azores as demonstration territories to validate hydrogen production, storage, and utilisation solutions in real port and maritime environments. Furthermore, it will contribute to the decarbonisation of port operations, maritime transport, and local industries, while strengthening regional energy resilience and promoting sustainable blue economy models that can be replicated across other European territories.
Demonstration activities include the installation of pilot hydrogen refuelling stations, the integration of hydrogen-powered vessels, and the testing of ammonia production and utilisation pathways.
