The Cristina Garc\u00eda Rodero Museum in Puertollano is hosting these days the 1st Mediterranean Electrochemistry School<\/em> (MEDIELES 2026), an international scientific meeting that strengthens advanced training in electrochemistry and its application to sustainability, with a particular focus on energy storage and environmental treatments.<\/p>\n

The school, which will run from 25 to 29 January and is organised locally by the University of Castilla-La Mancha (UCLM) and the Spanish National Hydrogen Centre (CNH2), has exceeded initial expectations, reaching 114 registrations from students and researchers from different countries.<\/p>\n

MEDIELES 2026 was created with the aim of becoming an annual meeting point for early-career researchers and professionals, with a view to fostering the exchange of experiences and the creation of future scientific collaborations.<\/p>\n

In this first edition, the European organisation has been led by the electrochemistry groups of the Italian Chemical Society (Societ\u00e0 Chimica Italiana), the French Chemical Society, and the Royal Spanish Society of Chemistry (RSEQ).<\/p>\n

At the opening event, Miguel \u00c1ngel Fern\u00e1ndez, General Manager of CNH2, took part, underscoring the value of Puertollano continuing to consolidate itself as a hub of knowledge and technologies to drive the energy transition, through a strong connection between research, training, and industrial application.<\/p>\n

In addition, Roberto Campana, Scientific Director of CNH2, is participating in the training programme with a specific session on the Hydrogen Economy, addressing the role of electrochemistry in the deployment of renewable hydrogen, the value chain, and the challenges of scaling up and competitiveness.<\/p>\n
