The European project Green Hysland, in which the Spanish National Hydrogen Centre (CNH2) is a partner, has announced an extension through to the end of 2027, adding two years to the timeline originally envisaged and reinforcing its ambition to position Mallorca as a replicable benchmark for decarbonisation in island territories.<\/p>\n
Green Hysland aims to deploy in Mallorca a fully fledged renewable hydrogen ecosystem spanning the entire value chain: production powered by solar energy, distribution infrastructure, and end uses in mobility, heat and electricity\u2014including injection into the gas grid. Within the project framework, the integration of five pilot sites is being implemented alongside electrolysis capacity coupled to photovoltaic plants, with the objective of demonstrating real-world operability and laying the groundwork for a large-scale hydrogen hub in southern Europe.<\/p>\n

Our role<\/strong><\/p>\n CNH2\u2019s contribution focuses on assessing the environmental impact of the project\u2019s technologies and processes through Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) methodologies, generating indicators that quantify environmental performance and inform decision-making throughout the deployment and evolution of the ecosystem.
