align=\"justify\">In this research project, the catalytic and non-catalytic fast pyrolysis of biomass (lignocellulosic and manure) and wastes (tire and plastic from land farms) will be studied. The main biomass feedstock selected for this work are especially abundant in the region of Castilla-La Mancha. First of all, for both biomass and waste products, the influence of the operating conditions such as the heating rate, the final pyrolysis temperature and the biomass feedstock on the final products distribution during the non-catalytic fast pyrolysis will be analyzed. The main aim will be the optimization of the bio-oil or fuel production and gases that could be used as a fuel. Subsequently, the catalytic fast pyrolysis will be studied. Different kinds of catalysts (zeolites, metal oxides, noble supported metals, etc.) and their preparation methods such as calcination, metal load and its incorporation to the support, will be analyzed. The effect of the presence of a catalyst in the pyrolysis process to increase the amount of desirable high-added products will be also investigated.
